History of the periodic table
The Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev was the first scientist to make a periodic table similar to the one used today. Mendeleev arranged the elements by atomic mass, corresponding to relative molar mass. It is sometimes said that he played ‘chemical solitaire’ on long train journeys, using cards with various facts about the known elements. On March 6, 1869, a formal presentation was made to the Russian Chemical Society, entitled The Dependence Between the Properties of the Atomic Weights of the Elements. In 1869, the table was published in an obscure Russian journal
Before in 1817, Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner began to formulate one of the earliest attempts to classify the elements. In 1829, he found that he could form some of the elements into groups of three, with the members of each group having related properties. He termed these groups triads.
chlorine, bromine, and iodine
calcium, strontium, and barium
sulfur, selenium, and tellurium
lithium, sodium, and potassium
After in 1864, the English chemist John Newlands classified the sixty-two known elements into eight groups, based on their physical properties. Newlands noted that many pairs of similar elements existed, which differed by some multiple of eight in mass number, and was the first to assign them an atomic number. With the elements arranged in a spiral on a cylinder by order of increasing atomic weight, de Chancourtois saw that elements with similar properties lined up vertically. His 1863 publication included a chart which contained ions and compounds, in addition to the elements
Law of Mass
The law of conservation of mass or principle of mass conservation states that for any system closed to all transfers of matter and energy, the of the mass system must remain constant over time, as system mass cannot change quantity if it is not added or removed. Hence, the quantity of mass is “conserved” over time. The law implies that mass can neither be created nor destroyed, although it may be rearranged in space, or the entities associated with it may be changed in form, as for example when light or physical work is transformed into particles that contribute the same mass to the system as the light or work had contributed. Thus, during any chemical reaction, nuclear reaction, or radioactive decay in an isolated system, the total mass of the reactants or starting materials must be equal to the mass of the products.
In special relativity, mass is not converted to energy, since mass and energy cannot be destroyed, and energy in all of its forms always retains its equivalent amount of mass throughout any transformation to a different type of energy within a system or translocation into or out of a system. Certain types of matter a different concept may be created or destroyed, but in all of these processes, the energy and mass associated with such matter remains unchanged in quantity although type of energy associated with the matter may change for.
The Arrival
The book I am going to write about is The Arrival by Shaun Tan.This a book with no words. This book is about a man that has to leave his family to go on a different country in a different state. This essay will be talking about how he adventures to the country where immigrants try to make a living. The island is based on New York / Ellis Island In America. As I go through my 6 paragraphs explaining the six images about an adventure that this man is going through .
My first opinion about Shaun Tan’s book ,The Arrival,in the first image is that the man is packing stuff up which brings up evidence that the man is leaving. He is also holding a family photo in his hand so carefully that he places it on the top of the suitcase . then he heads straight down to his wife to possibly have a cup of tea. While drinking a cup with his wife, she puts her hand on his hand. His face looks normal for a second but then starts to worry for a bit . This shows migration by how the man is expressing his feeling about leaving.
The second image is about the wife, the daughter and the man walking through the city while a big shadow on their face which is surrounding the whole city but the people do not seem to care about it that they just seem to ignore it . This explains that this migration by how only the man is carrying the suitcase in the streets with his wife and daughter who leaving to go inside a ship .
The next image is two statues that represents Ellis island and immigration. This shows immigration because the statues are greeting each other , other immigrants are celebrating for the arrival to the city. Next to the dock there was an immigration centre where they have to register to get a ID on how they have to live and work. The man is worried and feeling anxious about it that he starts to sweat hoping they will accept it.
The images represents the man begging to stay in the island and work that he starts to show his picture with his family and then he starts to pull his hat out and then starts to sigh about that the man in the office has given him an ID and then man starts to have a face relief about. This is a sign of immigration because he has to persuade someone to let him stay inside the country.
The next image is the person giving the man a stamp on the profile as verified citizen on what looks like his profile . This shows immigration on the man’s profile because he is now been verified which means he can live in the country where he can make money to give to his family . The man at this point is now relieved because of this miracle that life has given him to work for a living
Shakespearian sonnet
The waves of the water so bright he can’t see yet so bright he’s been slaughter and hot and fiery and the sun is this clear the moon comes to destroy with darkness beams when little kids hold fear all is not what is seems but,the moon won’t stay there for long when the sun come from the dead the fight rises and as a gong it could hit you in the head The sun is finally the winner
until it becomes night and it’s darker
